1. Acupuncture: Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles into specific areas of the body. It promotes healing and treats many health disorders. Acupuncture is virtually painless with no side effects. Only disposable, one-time use needles are used. Most patients fall asleep during their treatment, and all patients become very relaxed.

2. Cupping: Cupping is the use of small glass cups or bulbs to suction, or pull up on skin and muscles. This technique releases muscle tension and promotes blood flow to certain areas of the body. Beckie uses cupping often to alleviate muscle pain and tension, especially in the back, hips, shoulders, and neck. When done correctly, cupping is not painful. It can feel like a massage, relieving stress and promoting relaxation.

3. Nutritional Counseling: According to Chinese Medicine, nutrition and food therapy is considered one of the most effective ways to help the body heal. Beckie combines Western research of balancing the blood sugar with Eastern advice of eating for your constitution and according to the seasons. Food therapy helps treat autoimmune disorders, hormone imbalances, obesity, and chronic pain.

4. Herbal therapy: Herbal therapy has been used for thousands of years in China to treat various internal disorders. Chinese herbal formulas are individualized, milder than Western pharmaceuticals, safe when prescribed by a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine, and benefit a wide range of internal disorders, such as: PMS, anxiety, depression, viruses, gallstones, insomnia, gout, hot flashes, IBS, and allergies.

5. Electrostimulation: A tens machine is hooked to acupuncture needles, so that the patient feels a mild tapping sensation. ‘E-stim’ is used to help alleviate pain, to increase blood flow, and to promote muscle relaxation. This is a stronger treatment, great for chronic pain and very tight muscles.

6. Moxabustion: Moxabustion is the burning of an herb in order to heat specific acupuncture points and/or areas of the body. This is a great technique for treating many disorders, including some forms of arthritis, menstrual cramps, and heavy menstrual bleeding. Further, it can be an extremely effective tool to turn a breech baby.

7. Tui Na: Tui Na is traditional Chinese massage to release tension, promote relaxation, and alleviate pain.

8. Gua Sha: Gua Sha is the scrapping of areas of the body with a jade tool, in order to treat pain. Beckie often uses scraping on the legs to treat foot, ankle, and knee pain. Patients find this to be a relaxing and effective technique.

Beckie provides a holistic approach to treatment. I appreciate her gentle touch. Beckie employs multiple modalities to maximize the effectiveness of your session. She is dedicated to ensuring progress towards healing for her patients.
